Commit or Be Committed… Tools to Finish What You Started


Do you have a long list of unfinished projects? Books to write, things to make, businesses to build… but there just aren’t enough hours in the day! It gets frustrating, doesn’t it?!

False starts

‘You’ve had how many careers?!’ Yes, at least 11. At school, I would start and never finish. I found it utterly anxiety-producing to have to decide on one thing. To this day, my mum says she has no idea what I do! Have I made myself wrong for this? Yes, many times. Did that approach create anything...? Erm...more anxiety, anyone?

Until I began to connect with my story (girl loses job, girl chooses another job, girl gets bored, girl reads 10 books at the same time and would like to split herself into ten people…) I couldn’t see the gift in ANY OF IT! 


Is change a weakness or a strength?

When I started to read about a particular area in Access Consciousness known as X-Men, I began to see that my ability to read ten books at the same time might actually be an unusual party trick, at the very least. At best, it could signal that some of the things I’ve been making wrong are actually strengths. OK, weird strengths, but something that I might be able to use and enjoy.

My close friends know that I have NEVER seen anything through to the end (apart from qualifications), and not in a bad way. I'm always on to the next thing, full of enthusiasm. And at the same time my inability to finish ANYTHING at all was seriously pissing me off. 


Being truthful about who you really are

Then I found that including my story in what I do (and what I choose) began to change things. It meant I didn’t have to focus on ONE thing. When I could see the relationship and connection between ALL the many things, I loved it was like a deep sigh and light bulbs went off all over the place. 

I used a bunch of processes to start flexing the ‘if-there-was-nothing-wrong-with-this-how-would-it- be-a- gift?’ muscle. And I found if I MAINLY focused on one thing I could keep the other plates spinning because they were all closely connected to the ONE MAIN THING (just for now..) Some people won’t get this. I realise that. And I guess there may be another blog for them such as maybe: ‘how to do more than one thing at once and not care about finishing anything??’

But for you, how do you finish what you started? The answer lies in committing to you and accepting yourself for who you truly are.



This is for you… Be freaky!

Anyway. I know YOU get this blog, and I wrote it especially for you. Because no one ever tells you how you’re great for those freaky ways; least of all you. All those ways that you don’t fit in but bravely keep showing up every day, getting on with things even when you feel ALL WRONG. And all the ways you tell yourself you’re wrong because nothing seems to come easily to you. 

Has it ever occurred to you that you haven’t been paying attention to what actually IS easy for you? And if you did  it might just surprise you. This is the beginning of committing to you - it starts with looking at where you feel just right, what you love (even if no one else does), where you can stick up for yourself and say ‘NO!!!!!, I’m just not going to make myself wrong anymore! Show me universe...show me what is easy for me, so easy I can commit to it with ease, repeatedly, every day’


Choosing what you love

Because from where I’m looking, that’s the sanest definition of commitment: something you keep choosing on a minute-by-minute basis because you love it so much, you’ll wade through icy mud to get to your target on the other side. And everyone has something, even if what you love best is uncovering yourself. Who was it said, ‘Man, know thyself?’ Actually I know it was Socrates because I’ve just Googled it. Hey, I’m like that (I’ll add ‘know-it-all’ to my story later).

We really do require to be steely these days. We require to be the leader of our own lives and stop looking to others give us what we already have. Being present and committing to your life 24/7 is really hard. It's like constantly and repeatedly ramming head first through reality after reality (you may mistake this for feeling bad, or weird or everything being TOO MUCH!). And then, finally, you're coasting. Riding the wave and everything is a delight and an inspiration. Until the frantic pushing through the waves begins again.



Step into your power and enjoy ALL OF IT!

You are the leader of your life - what you choose is how you create it. Believe in your choices, trust your desires, and remember - it actually doesn't matter what you do - it matters what you BE. In each and every moment. So no slacking!!!
